RFID Labels & Tags

Leverage on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) consumables to drive your business and improve customer satisfaction

SATO provides high-frequency (HF) and ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID labels, tags, tickets, wristbands & bonded label cards. They are specifically designed and manufactured to work seamlessly with SATO printers for further printing and encoding of variable information.

SATO’s RFID facility can handle the entire RFID consumables manufacturing process, from designing and producing RFID antennas (for bonding with RFID chips procured externally) to inspecting and shipping finished products.

With our extensive experience in label manufacturing, we offer RFID consumables that meet our customers' field requirements. As a printer manufacturer, we guarantee that our RFID consumables work seamlessly with the RFID printers used by customers, ensuring high print quality and optimum performance without causing downtime for customer operations.

Product Features

  • Top quality & wide range of materials to choose from

Produced with top-quality materials that are customisable for apparel, on-metal, and industrial tagging to ensure optimal performance with our printers. Choose either direct thermal or thermal transfer facestock and paper or film base material.

  • Choice of passive & active tags

Choose from range of passive (powered by electromagnetic energy transmitted from RFID reader) and active (powered by battery) tags to meet your requirements.

  • Choice of consumable types/formats

Use RFID in different formats such as labels, tags, tickets, wristbands, and more. We also offer four main adhesive types: permanent, removable, repositionable, and freezer-grade.

FAQs

What's the difference between UHF RFID and PJM RFID?

PJM RFID, developed specifically for passive RFID tags, offers superior performance in challenging environments. Unlike HF/UHF RFID, PJM guarantees 100% read accuracy, even with densely stacked or randomly oriented items. It operates at much higher speeds and is capable of reading hundreds of tags per second compared to general RFID's typical 30 tags per second. PJM excels in the presence of liquids and metals, which often interfere with general RFID signals.

Additionally, PJM tags have a larger memory capacity and can withstand medical-grade sterilisation processes. While general RFID is widely used across various industries, PJM RFID is particularly suited for applications requiring high-speed, accurate identification of multiple items in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and document management sectors.

What should I keep in mind when choosing RFID labels?
Your SATO RFID experts help you select the most suitable labels and tags for operation-specific applications. Here are some initial considerations to consider when choosing these products:
  • The product to which the tags are attached may interfere with the antenna signals. Therefore, there are distinct RFID label and tag requirements, particularly for on-metal, apparel retail, and industrial tagging.
  • RFID products contain sensitive semiconductor chips, which may cause their read performance to vary substantially depending on the environment in which they are used.
  • Field testing for RFID solutions is required in the customer's actual operating environment before implementation.
  • As RFID solutions are built based on field testing, any subsequent changes to tagging positions and other conditions may affect their intended performance.
How do I protect RFID inlays and prevent malfunction?
  • DO NOT subject labels to pressure or impact.
  • DO NOT fold or bend labels.
  • DO NOT expose labels to electrostatic charges and discharges.
What are the ideal storage conditions for RFID labels?
  • Store labels in a cool and dark place
  • Avoid hot, humid and abnormally dry conditions
  • Keep away from chemicals
  • Once opened, store unused labels in an anti-static plastic bag.
  • Use products within one year from the date of delivery for optimum performance.
  • Temperature: 5 to 35°C
  • Humidity: 40 - 80% RH
Is warranty coverage available for RFID consumables?

Yes, SATO offers a warranty of one year from the delivery date for thermal transfer & direct thermal consumables (paper/film) unless otherwise agreed.
