Implementation of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs)
SATO Holdings Corporation is proud to announce that its subsidiary, SATO Vietnam Co., Ltd., is transitioning to 100% renewable energy through adopting International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).
As one of SATO Group’s key manufacturing hubs, SATO Vietnam produces printers and hand labellers for global distribution. From 2025, the factory will power its entire annual electricity consumption—approximately 1,228 MWh1—with renewable energy under the I-RECs scheme.
I-RECs are globally recognised certificates that verify the origin and type of renewable energy. Used in over 60 countries, including Japan, Asia, South America, and Africa, they provide a transparent mechanism for businesses to track and claim renewable energy use.
By adopting I-RECs, SATO Vietnam will secure a reliable renewable energy source, indirectly reducing CO2 emissions and supporting global decarbonisation efforts.
Sustainability is at the core of SATO Group’s operations. This transition aligns with our environmental policy to “conserve energy across our business activities while expanding the use of renewable energy to reduce our carbon footprint.”
SATO remains committed to reducing environmental risks, preventing pollution and improving sustainability across its supply chain. The company will continue efforts in resource and energy conservation, waste reduction and developing eco-friendly products and services. Additionally, SATO will work closely with local communities to support biodiversity and contribute to a sustainable future.
Through initiatives like I-RECs, SATO drives a greener future while ensuring sustainable manufacturing for our customers worldwide.
